The 2013 version of our Spanish inspired wine is 70% Tempranillo and 30% Mourvedre, also known as Monastrell. The varieties are near each end of the ripening spectrum, the Tempranillo being our first variety to ripen, and Mourvedre one of the last along with Cabernet. Each variety is picked, fermented and matured separately before blending prior to bottling. The deeper darker fruit and firmer tannin backbone of Mourvedre is a perfect foil for the spicy vibrant Tempranillo. The 2013 is much more acid driven than previous versions, with a juicy, savoury, spicy palate.
