RED EDGE

Welcome to Red Edge, Wines of Heathcote.

Red Edge is a traditional family owned winery located in the heart of the
Heathcote wine region. Established in the 1994 Red Edge prioritizes minimal
intervention and traditional techniques to create wines that express the unique
character of Heathcote's terroir. They strive for high-quality, full-bodied Shiraz
and Cabernet Sauvignon alongside other European grape varieties including
Tempranillo, Graciano, Mourvèdre and Touriga Nacional. Winemaker and
founder Peter Dredge expanded the original 4.5 acres of 1971 planted Shiraz
and Cabernet Sauvignon, now managing 37 acres of vineyards with son Will.
Hand-picked fruit comes from vines rarely exceed 2 tonnes to the acre, with
the best fruit often well below this. As true vignerons, all wines are made from
estate grown fruit, in an off grid solar powered winery. The wines are aged in a
mixture of barriques, puncheons and stainless steel and then bottled on site
after 18-24 months of ageing.

The most amazing thing about family run businesses, especially in hospitality, is that it doesn’t matter how many things you buy. It just matters that you’ve come to visit and whatever you do purchase means you’re helping a family do what they love for longer. We come here every year for Heathcote on Show, it’s always our last stop of the day so the kids can have a run around and sap out that last bit of energy, and we can sit around the fire and take in the sunset over the winery with a drop of something fabulous to accompany the view. Every year we’re greeted like we’re part of the family and apart from the AMAZING port - careful, it’s dangerously amazing - that’s what keeps up coming back. Make sure you get down to Heathcote and Red Edge Wine, it’ll become one of your favourites too.

Amazing family run winery with delicious wines and an educational tasting experience. Peter gave us an amazing tasting experience - as we visited during picking season we were able to see different stages of the wine making progress and even do a tasting of some wines that weren't yet bottled. We were a family group of 8 and everyone had a fantastic time. Highly recommended and will be back!

Amazing wine with an even better atmosphere. Really enjoyed the experience on the vineyard. Intriguing to see the entire process and become a bit more knowledgable thanks to the fantastic expertise of Peter. Great to see a family run vineyard, can’t wait to return!
